> Lcd projectors have plummeted in price over the past couple of years to now be as affordable as a good quality LCD monitor. All projectors have 2 main specifications that will differ. They refer to the Brightness and Resolution that each can display. The ANSI lumin rating given to each projector gives you an idea of how bright each unit can project. More importantly the brighter the lumins, the better you can view the projected images with brighter ambient light around you. If you have control over the lighting in the places you are going to use the projector, then you can get away with 1500 or so lumins without a problem. If you are projecting outdoors or near open windows where you will get a lot of ambient light, you would need to jump up to 1800 or 2000 lumins. The resolution of the projectors are available in two flavours. 800x600 (SVGA) or 1024x768 (XGA). If you going to use the LCD projector mainly for PowerPoint presentations, watching TV or DVD’s, then SVGA resolution will be fine. XGA is essential when demonstrating software packages or using programs like Photoshop, Publisher and Excel because they give you much more desktop real-estate to work with.
